›› Welcome to India!

The Delhi AWA - the "American Welcome Association" - was founded in 1947. We strive to offer a soft place to land upon your arrival to Delhi. The AWA offers support and encourages friendship among fellow Americans, provides opportunities to work with local charitable organizations, and promotes a positive environment in which to learn about the Indian culture through a variety of educational and social events. We welcome and encourage all United States citizens or spouses of United States citizens living in India to become members of AWA. In the following pages we hope you find all the information you're looking for. If not, please feel to contact our office.
›› Note from our President Welcome back! If you’re just arriving to Delhi for the first time, the AWA offers a huge hug and an offer to be one of your lifelines as you set up shop here in Delhi. Last year was the “Year of the Member” and this year will be the “Year of Activity.” Caitlin and the rest of the Programs/Events folks are hard at work scheduling a wide variety of activities and we will keep you up to date via the website/newsletter and weekly emails. Please do mark your calendars for the Pool Party Membership Drive, as well as the Adults’ Only night out, as both will be great fun. As our family has just celebrated our first year in Delhi, I am excited to start our second year. Please know that we are thrilled to have you as a member! Feel free to simply come to events or take advantage of the library, Domestic Staff Registry or drop off your used goods for the thrift store. Take it a step further and volunteer for one of our outreach groups, donate some time to helping with AWA events or offer to assist in one of the many facets of making this organization run smoothly! Diana, the Office Manager for the AWA, is your best resource … call on her during office hours to get most of your questions answered. If she is unable to help, she’ll immediately put you in touch with someone who can assist! I look forward to meeting you at various events, ~ Naomi Hattaway
