›› Welcome to India!

The Delhi AWA was founded in 1947.

We strive to offer a soft place to land upon your arrival to Delhi. The AWA offers support and encourages friendship among fellow Americans, provides opportunities to work with local charitable organizations, and promotes a positive environment in which to learn about the Indian culture through a variety of educational and social events.

We welcome and encourage all United States citizens or spouses of United States citizens living in India to become members of AWA. In the following pages we hope you find all the information you're looking for. If not, please feel to contact our office.

›› Note from our Executive Board

Dear Members,

Welcome to spring in Delhi! March is my favorite time of year in Delhi - the temperature is perfect, the skies a clear blue and all of the flowers are in bloom. Everyone seems to spend as much time as possible outside during this month, and rightly so. Be sure to take advantage of the gorgeous weather this time of year, and come out and join us for a jam-packed month of activities, kicked off by the 2nd annual Women's Empowerment Mela and Glimpses of India photo exhibit, both on Friday, March 1st. Explore the Red Fort and Chattarpur Temple complex with Discover Delhi, and learn more about some of the NGOs that our hard-working Outreach committee support by joining us for upcoming site visits. Grab a coffee and make some new friends at one of our twice-monthly Chai Time coffee mornings, and stay tuned for more details on the AWA library's upcoming move!

March is also a month which sees two of my family's favorite holidays, Easter and Holi. Read ahead for more details on the Easter Egg Hunt taking place at Roosevelt House on Saturday, March 16th and how to order all-natural Holi colors through the AWA office. Ms. Tammy is also hosting a fun-filled arts and crafts afternoon celebrating spring and March holidays, and these afternoons are always a hit with children and parents alike!

As the current membership year winds down at the end of this month, I would like to add that we are still looking to fill some of the board positions for the 2013-2014 year. There are so many opportunities in our organization and don't doubt that we can use your unique talents to keep the AWA motor running. Do you enjoy working with numbers? We'd love to have you as our Finance Chair! Do you have a knack for large scale event planning for a great cause? Please consider volunteering as our Mela Chair! We would love to help you find the right position for you- so please don't hesitate to email communications@awadelhi.com for more information.

Sally Richards
Communications Chair
